Curva Transfer Watch – Galatasaray want Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal close in on Bruno Guimaraes

With the domestic leagues around Europe gearing up for a new season, the transfer talk is heating up. Some clubs have already made key moves, while others are still waiting to get their desired targets.

The Premier League, with all its riches, is once again leading the chatter, but there are some clubs in other leagues who are making the big moves.

Bruno Fernandes Galatasaray transfer, Arsenal agree Guimaraes fee

Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray are prepared to meet Bruno Fernandes’ hefty wage demands as they seek to add the Manchester United midfielder to their ranks. The Portuguese midfielder’s contract with the Red Devils runs out next summer, and it is reported that the club are not willing to sell him for anything less than £75 million. (Fanatik)

Arsenal have agreed a £77m deal with Newcastle United to sign Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The Gunners plan to offer him a four-year contract with the club. (L’Equipe)

Matteo Ruggeri’s agent has shut down talks of the Atletico Madrid left-back leaving the club amid interest from Serie A clubs AS Roma and Fiorentina. (Into the Calderon)

Real Madrid are €20m short of Manchester City’s valuation of their midfielder Rodri. Los Blancos are prepared to pay €60m, but City want €80m for the World Cup winner. (Managing Madrid)

Scotland forward Kieron Bowie is set to join Sassuolo from relegated Serie A side Hellas Verona. He will move on a loan deal with an option to buy. (Daily Record)

Juventus have reached out to Manchester City to discuss the potential signing of Tijjani Reijnders. The Turin club have made contact with the French player’s representatives and hope to at least finalise a loan deal. (Tuttomercatoweb)

Turki Alalshikh, the co-founder of boxing promotion company Zuffa, is moving closer to finalising an investment in EFL Championship club Derby County. The Saudi Arabian government official expects to be given the go-ahead for the deal in the coming days. (BBC Radio Derby)

Curva Analysis

Galatasaray’s interest in Bruno Fernandes comes as no surprise. The Big 3 Turkish clubs are making eye-catching moves in the transfer window, and the possible acquisition of the Premier League’s record assists holder will be a major coup. Galatasaray are eyeing talks with his agent and Manchester United, yet a deal may not be that easy.

Bruno has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford and did turn down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia last season. For the Turkish champions, any possibility of signing him depends on whether the Portuguese star is willing to bring an end to his time in Manchester.

Arsenal’s signing of Bruno Guimaraes is a smart addition to a winning squad. Last season, Mike Arteta took the Gunners to the title with a team that had quality in depth and a variety of options at many positions. Guimaraes is a proven Premier League performer and will only enhance Arsenal’s chances of retaining the Premier League.

While Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi are robust in midfield, Guimaraes can offer a more creative outlet for the team’s attacking unit. His addition will give the defending champions a good set of players who can play just behind the front line. For Newcastle United, this would be another major loss after they saw manager Eddie Howe depart the club a few days ago.
